Mental Health First Aid training

Through certified Mental Health First Aid training we equip individuals and groups with skills to provide mental health first aid to friends, family members, co-workers and other adults.

Through certified Mental Health First Aid training we equip individuals and groups with skills to provide mental health first aid to friends, family members, co-workers and other adults.

Standard Mental Health First Aid course, authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, provides skills in how to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

Mental health topics covered 

  • Depression
  • Anxiety problems
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems 

Mental health crises covered 

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours - Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use 
  • Aggressive behaviours

Participants can choose to complete a brief online assessment after the course to become accredited by Mental Health First Aid Australia for 3 years as a Mental Health First Aider.

This course can be delivered as either 2 x 7 hour sessions or 4 x 4 hour sessions.
